# Atomency > Atomency is a free, browser-based chemistry simulator for K–12 students and teachers. No login required. No subscription. Works on any device including school Chromebooks. ## What is Atomency? Atomency is an interactive chemistry education platform built by Ky'Lin Spears, a student at Suitland High School (Class of 2027) in Suitland, Maryland. It was created to solve a real problem: the tools that make chemistry concepts visible — molecular geometry, electron behavior, bonding angles — were either expensive, required IT approval, or weren't aligned to what students actually study. Atomency is free, open-access, and directly aligned to NGSS HS-PS1 (Matter and Its Interactions) standards. ## Who made Atomency? **Creator:** Ky'Lin Spears **School:** Suitland High School, Suitland, MD **Class of:** 2027 **Contact:** Available via the site ## What can Atomency do? - **Periodic Table** — All 118 elements with detailed properties (atomic mass, electronegativity, electron configuration, oxidation states, phases) - **Molecular Builder (The Lab)** — Drag-and-drop atoms to build molecules in real time. The engine automatically detects bond types (single, double, triple, ionic, aromatic), calculates IUPAC names, oxidation states, partial charges, molecular geometry (VSEPR), and state of matter - **Equation Balancer** — Balances chemical equations algorithmically using matrix methods - **Reaction Kinetics** — Simulates reaction rates at different temperatures using Arrhenius equation - **Nuclear Decay** — Models alpha, beta, and gamma decay chains with half-life calculations - **110M+ Molecular Structures** — The bonding engine is fully algorithmic with no hardcoded molecule names; it generates properties for any combination of atoms ## Technology - Pure HTML/CSS/JavaScript — no frameworks, no install - ChemistryEngine: custom JS engine handling bond detection, IUPAC naming, phase prediction, VSEPR geometry - PubChem API integration for common names and molecular descriptions - Periodic Table data from Bowserinator's Periodic Table JSON - Progressive Web App (PWA) — installable, works offline ## Educational Alignment NGSS Standards: HS-PS1-1, HS-PS1-2, HS-PS1-3, HS-PS1-4, HS-PS1-7 AP Chemistry topics: atomic structure, bonding, thermochemistry, kinetics, nuclear chemistry Grade levels: 8–12 (middle and high school) ## URLs - Homepage: https://atomency.com - The Lab (simulator): https://atomency.com/lab - Devlog: https://atomency.com/devlog - Privacy Policy: https://atomency.com/privacy ## Legal / Disclaimer Atomency is an educational tool. The chemistry calculations and predictions it generates are approximations based on algorithms and models — they are useful for learning concepts but should not be used for professional research, laboratory work, or any safety-critical application.
