Effective Date: February 20, 2026 · Last Updated: February 20, 2026
1. Scope & Applicability
This Privacy Policy applies to all pages and features of Atomency ("the Platform," "we," "our"), accessible at atomency.com and any associated subdomains. It governs how we treat information from visitors, students, and educators who use the Platform.
By using Atomency you acknowledge this policy. If you are a teacher deploying Atomency in a classroom setting, please share this page with students or parents as needed.
2. No Personal Data Collected
Atomency does not require account creation or login. We do not collect, store, or process any of the following:
- Names, email addresses, or contact information
- Student IDs, school enrollment data, or grade level
- Passwords or authentication credentials
- IP addresses linked to individual identities
- Photos, audio, video, or biometric data
- Payment or financial information of any kind
Because no account system exists, there is no user profile, no persistent session tied to an individual, and no database of personal records.
3. Anonymous Usage Analytics
We collect anonymous, aggregate usage data to understand how the Platform is used and to improve its educational value. This data may include:
- Feature interaction events (e.g., "a VSEPR calculation was run," "a molecule was built")
- Session duration (time on page)
- General page visited (e.g.,
/lab.html) - Device type category (e.g., mobile vs. desktop) — not device identifiers
Analytics data is transmitted to our serverless backend (hosted on Netlify) and is used exclusively for internal improvement of the Platform. It is not sold, licensed, or shared with advertisers or third-party data brokers.
4. Cookies & Local Storage
Atomency does not set tracking cookies or advertising cookies. The Platform may use browser localStorage strictly to preserve in-session state (such as a molecule you are currently building) so that work is not lost if you navigate between tabs. This data:
- Never leaves your device unless you explicitly use the Export feature
- Is not transmitted to any server
- Is cleared when you clear your browser data
No third-party advertising or tracking cookies are loaded by this Platform.
5. Children, COPPA & FERPA
Atomency is designed for use in K–12 educational settings and is intended to be used by students of all ages under teacher supervision.
COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act): Because we do not collect personal information from any users — including children under 13 — Atomency does not trigger COPPA's parental-consent requirements. No personal data from children is collected, stored, or shared.
FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act): Atomency does not receive, store, or process any student education records. No information transmitted through Atomency constitutes an "education record" as defined under FERPA because no data is linked to individual students.
Teachers and school administrators deploying this platform in a classroom context may do so with confidence that no student data is captured by the Platform itself.
6. Third-Party Services
Atomency is hosted on Netlify. Netlify may collect standard server-side access logs (including IP addresses) as part of normal hosting infrastructure. These logs are controlled by Netlify under Netlify's Privacy Policy and are not accessible to or used by Atomency.
Atomency loads the following resources from external CDNs at page load:
- Google Fonts (typography) — subject to Google's Privacy Policy
- Google Material Icons (icons) — same as above
No other third-party scripts, pixels, trackers, or advertising networks are present on the Platform.
7. Security
Atomency uses HTTPS for all data transmission. Because minimal data is collected and no personal information is stored, the attack surface for data breaches is extremely limited by design.
If you discover a security vulnerability in the Platform, please report it responsibly to help@atomency.com before public disclosure.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the Platform's functionality or applicable law. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Platform after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
Material changes that affect data handling practices will be noted clearly at the top of this page for a minimum of 30 days.
